Founded in 2012 by Claudia Ruiz, Vernácula broke the mold in Lima by gathering dozens of local labels under one roof at a time when Peruvian independent fashion had nowhere to live retail. Thirteen years and three locations later — Barranco (the original), San Isidro (more polished) and Miraflores via Jockey Plaza (more streetwear-leaning) — it works with about 250 suppliers, of which roughly 95 percent are domestic. The store also has a small café-bar and dress-rental service, and is regularly cited as the most influential reference point for Peruvian author fashion.
