Paloma Wool

Paloma Wool was founded in 2014 in Barcelona by Paloma Lanna, a former retail-buyer and stylist, as a Spanish-anchored contemporary womenswear-and-accessories brand specifically focused on what Lanna described as 'a deliberately Catalan-Mediterranean visual culture rebuilt as contemporary luxury.' The brand's foundational thesis was specific: produce a contemporary womenswear vocabulary that drew explicitly on the visual culture of contemporary Barcelona — Catalan beach aesthetic, mid-century-Mediterranean colour palettes, contemporary Spanish-art-and-photography culture, and the deliberately under-marketed visual voice of post-Franco Catalan independent design. The Paloma Wool vocabulary settled around several recurring elements: hand-illustrated graphic-print silk-and-cotton shirts and dresses referencing contemporary Barcelona art-and-photography culture, deliberately-relaxed-fit knitwear in Spanish-mill cotton and linen, hand-printed leather goods with abstract-painting motifs, the brand's iconic seasonal collaboration capsules with Spanish artists and photographers, and a colour palette anchored to mid-century-Mediterranean colour combinations (terracotta, ochre, soft-coral, washed-navy, sage-green) plus muted ecru and washed-charcoal base tones. The brand is independent and held by Lanna. Paloma Wool operates a flagship retail concept in Barcelona (the Paloma Wool studio shop at Carrer de l'Avinyó in the Gothic Quarter) plus international wholesale through SSENSE, MATCHES, Net-a-Porter, the Webster, Lane Crawford, Boontheshop, and a curated set of contemporary-luxury-womenswear specialty retailers globally.
