Public Culture
Public Culture was founded in Jakarta in 2015 by Michael Kurniawan as a side project that quickly outgrew its origins to become one of the loudest voices in Indonesia's streetwear scene. The brand is widely credited as the first local label to commit to saturated colour blocking and oversized, irony-soaked graphics, drawing equally from Tokyo streetwear, Levi's-era Americana and Jakarta youth culture. After years of running purely online and via stockists, PC opened a Kemang Selatan flagship that also houses its headquarters, and now operates under holding company Kultur Muda Indonesia alongside sister label PYC.
