New Balance and Aimé Leon Dore are like the casually preppy, Americana version of peanut butter and jelly. They just go together.

The globally renowned footwear brand and New York-based fashion and lifestyle label have teamed up on an elevated revision of one of New Balance’s best archival gems.

The ALD/ New Balance Gator applies a sophisticated color palette and intentional details to the popular retro runner.

The Gator Run, which originally made its debut in 1982, hasn’t been back for very long, but it’s already made quite the impact.

New Balance just reissued the model in early 2026, and now we’ve got a sleek new take on our hands … or rather, feet, courtesy of a collaboration with Aime Leon Dore.

The ALD/New Balance Gator refreshes the slim sneaker with a clean, ultra-minimal new off-white upper, constructed with a creamy mesh as the base, and features hairy suede overlays for extra depth and texture.

The nylon underlays add breathability and lightness to the silhouette, and the warm white upper is paired with a deep black outsole, which features contrast stitching as an extra decorative element.

There’s also a traditional ‘N’ logo on the lateral side of the shoe, crafted from nubuck leather.

While its aesthetic is more contemporary than any of 2026’s vintage-inspired reissue colorways, the foundation of the updated Gator Run remains the same.

That includes a minimal midsole, a grippy outsole and an overall clean, low-profile vibe.

As far as branding goes, ALD’s presence is discrete yet impactful. It appears in the form of ALD’s Queens logo on the tongue, insoles and backtab.

Availability and pricing

The ALD / New Balance Gator is currently listed as “Coming Soon” on the Aimé Leon Dore’s website, with no set release date. When it does make its official debut, it will retail for $130.
