If Aïshti is the cathedral of Lebanese luxury, Aïzone is its laboratory - the younger contemporary sibling Tony Salamé built to capture the customer his flagships could not. Inside the Beirut Souks, the space looks more gallery than department store: graphic Stefan Sagmeister-designed advertising campaigns hang above racks that mix Diesel, Camper, New Balance, Acne Studios and a rotating cast of contemporary designers. It is the room where a generation of Beirut twenty-somethings learned what international contemporary fashion looked like, and it is still where the city tries out brands before they migrate up to the Aïshti boutiques.
