Beymen opened its first store in Şişli in 1971 as a private-label experiment between Osman Boyner and Italian fashion executive Silvano Corsini, and grew into the format that defined Turkish luxury retail. The 3,500 m² Nişantaşı store, opened in 2003 on Abdi İpekçi Caddesi, made Nişantaşı into Istanbul's luxury district overnight; the 2013 Zorlu Center flagship pushed that further with a 10,000 m² floor plate carrying Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Valentino, Stella McCartney and Louis Vuitton through Kering and LVMH partnerships. Now owned by Qatar's Mayhoola and operating around twenty department stores nationally, Beymen remains the single most important wholesale and retail door Western luxury houses use to reach Turkey.
