Founded

Luisaviaroma was founded in 1929 in Florence by Luisa Jaquin Pertegaz as a small multi-brand luxury boutique on Via Roma, Florence — the street name that subsequently gave the brand its three-word name. The boutique was operated by the Pertegaz and then Panconesi families across three generations, and Andrea Panconesi (the grandson of the founder) led the brand through its transition into one of Europe's earliest luxury e-commerce platforms when Luisaviaroma.com launched in 1999. The Luisaviaroma vocabulary settled around several distinguishing things: a buyer-led brand list anchored to the major LVMH and Kering houses plus a particular strength in Italian heritage (Marni, Missoni, Bottega Veneta, Brunello Cucinelli, MSGM, Sportmax, Etro), the LVR Sustainable edit (the brand's sustainability-focused programme), and a multi-storey physical flagship on Via Roma in Florence that operates as both an editorial-led department store and an experiential-flagship space. The LVR Editions exclusive capsule programme has produced limited collaborations with Off-White, Marine Serre, Y/Project, Maison Margiela, and dozens of other contemporary designers. Luisaviaroma is independent and held by Andrea Panconesi and the broader Panconesi family. The retailer operates the Florence flagship plus the global e-commerce platform with fulfilment from Italy. The platform stocks approximately 600 brands across menswear, womenswear, kids, jewellery, and home; ships to over 100 countries; and has been one of the defining Italian-anchored luxury e-commerce platforms of the post-1999 generation. The annual Firenze4Ever event programme — an editorial-and-influencer Florence destination event coordinated with the flagship — has been a defining force in the Italian luxury calendar.
