Founded

Plum was conceived in 2004 by Mira Mikati and Raya Dernaika and launched its 700 m² Park Avenue flagship in 2007, one of the first concept stores in the Arab world to take the form Comme des Garçons had popularised in Paris and Tokyo. Across two floors the buy mixes Lanvin, Balmain, Alaïa, Manolo Blahnik, Nina Ricci, Sacai, Acne Studios and Alexander Wang with health, beauty and design objects, all set inside a deliberately raw, slightly industrial interior. For its first decade Plum was where Beirut found the names Aïshti had not yet brought in, and where many Lebanese designers built the rolodexes that later opened doors in Paris.
