Printemps

Printemps was founded in 1865 in Paris by Jules Jaluzot and his wife Marguerite as a small department store on Boulevard Haussmann, named 'Printemps' (Spring) to suggest renewal and freshness. The brand expanded through the late 19th and 20th centuries to become one of Paris's defining luxury department stores, with the iconic Haussmann flagship — particularly the Art Nouveau central glass dome installed in 1881 and the Au Printemps building that became a historical monument — anchoring the brand's position in the Parisian luxury market for over 160 years. The Printemps vocabulary settled around several distinguishing things: the multi-floor Haussmann flagship with its iconic Art Nouveau central dome (one of Paris's most-photographed retail-architectural features), a buyer-led brand list anchored to every major LVMH, Kering, and Richemont luxury house plus a particularly strong selection of contemporary independent designers (The Row, Khaite, Toteme, Cecilie Bahnsen, plus emerging French designers), the iconic Printemps de la Mode women's-fashion floors, the Brasserie Printemps roof-restaurant under the Art Nouveau dome, and the seasonal Printemps Project window-installation programme. Printemps was owned by Qatar Holding (the Qatari Investment Authority subsidiary) from 2013 until the 2025 sale to a consortium led by the Singaporean sovereign wealth fund GIC and the family office Disruptive Capital. The retailer operates approximately 20 flagship locations across France — Paris (Boulevard Haussmann, the flagship; Printemps de l'Homme at Rue Caumartin — the men's flagship; Printemps Italie 2; plus the Printemps Doha, Printemps Marrakech, Printemps New York and other international locations) — plus the Printemps e-commerce platform. The Boulevard Haussmann flagship, which spans approximately 480,000 square feet across multiple buildings, is one of the most-visited department-store complexes in Paris.
