The Goods Dept

Founded on 9 December 2010 by retail veterans Anton Wirjono and Tendi Naim, The Goods Dept opened with a 1,066 sqm flagship at Plaza Indonesia that immediately became Jakarta's reference point for independent fashion. The retailer grew out of Brightspot Market, a roving Jakarta pop-up bazaar from the same team, and was built around the idea of giving Indonesian labels a permanent department-store home next to imported brands. Today its outposts in Plaza Indonesia, Pondok Indah Mall, Pacific Place and other malls stock everything from local heroes like Pot Meets Pop and SARE Studio to imports, while The Goods Cafe and rotating art and film events have turned the stores into a cultural circuit for the city's creative class.
